Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, humanitarian and spiritual leader, founded Sri Sri Gurukul in 1981 to revive the ancient Gurukul system of learning. Domains Of Learning
Rigveda – Shaakal
The Rigveda is the most ancient of the four Vedas . Among 21 of its branches shaakal shakha , bashkala shakha & sankhayayana shakha are surviving today of which shaakal shakha is widely being studied and practiced
Shukla Yajurveda – Madhyandina
The Madhyandina Shākha of Shukla Yajurveda is especially prominent across North India. It preserves a distinct style of recitation and ritual practice.
Krishna Yajurveda – Taittiriya
The Krishna Yajurveda is revered for its blend of sacred mantras and explanatory prose. Among its branches, the Taittiriya Shākha is the most widely practiced and respected.
Samaveda – Ranayaneeya
The Samaveda is hailed as the “Veda of Music” since its hymns are sung rather than spoken. The Ranayaneeya Shākha is a rare and precious tradition of Samagana (musical chanting).
Shukla Yajurveda – Kanva
The Kanva Shākha of the Shukla Yajurveda is celebrated for its clarity and structured presentation of mantras. It is one of the oldest surviving branches still actively practiced.
Samaveda – Kauthuma
The Kauthuma Shākha is the most widely practiced branch of the Samaveda and is highly systematized.
Atharvaveda – Shaunaka
The Atharvaveda stands apart from the other Vedas, dealing with everyday life, healing, protection, and well-being. The Shaunaka Shākha is its most well-preserved branch.
Daily Vedic Chanting & Sandhya Vandana – A day begins and ends with prayers and chanting.
